RESQUE AND OXYGEN SOCIETY has been working for a considerable period of time in the field of health and education to upgrade the livelihood of the downtrodden people. Through social welfare activities the disadvantaged people, SC, OBC and the vulnerable community members are being cared for their education, Health & Hygiene, Skill Development of adolescent girls, Environment and Vocational Training for the SHG members aiming at sustainability.

About Us

The organization was started in the year 2008 under the leadership of Debasish Mondal, a son of the soil with other motivated local youths with the vision to create a favourable societal environment for caring a compassionate culture as dreamed by Swami Vivekananda and to develop practical moral ethos for a Human Society.

RESQUE AND OXYGEN SOCIETY works with people and thereof, considers and value people as most important assets on this universe. Providing opportunity and people’s participation are the key and guiding words for overall development and growth of this organization. It tries to help the people so that they can help themselves for their own upliftmen.

ROS is committed to its mission to be an effective service provider for redressing the sufferings of the people for a value based better society.

ROS visualizes itself as a voluntary development organization to enable the people for fullest possible realization of the manifold human potential leading to self-reliance.

Enhancing awareness and improving the skills and knowledge among the people to create a favorable environment for their own initiatives that they can manage their own programmes for sustainability.

To address the emerging issues within the changing development scenario, be it at the local, regional, national and international level.

Objectives

To spread literacy among the illiterate men and women in both rural and urban area.
To take up formal and non-formal education programme.
To take up different skill formation and vocational training programme for the unemployed young men and women belonging to low socio-economic condition.
To work for sustainable development practises in the rural and urban areas ensuring women empowerment at all stages.
Making people aware of the rights, duties, and responsibilities as an individual and as a citizen.
Providing preventive, promotive and curative health care services for the people in general and women and children in specific
To motivate the youths for entrepreneurship development with a view to make them self supportive including acquiring skill suited to their needs, priorities and capabilities

Activities

Training on Readymade Garments under Swawlamban

The programme was started on 14th July, 2017 for skill development of the SC, ST and Poor women on Ready Made Garments that they can be self employed through establishment of enterprise or working at Home.

Total 50 trainees enrolled and they take regular classes held at the Training hall of the Organization.

Health care to eradicate malnutrition

The children of the remotest areas of the district suffers from malnutrition due to their parents lack of knowledge and less understanding about nutritional food intake.

We therefor arrange monthly health check up and awareness for the mothers and help them to build kitchen garden in their homestead land for availability of local nutritional food.

Youth Consultation on Anti Trafficking

We have organised Anti Trafficking programme to relate the issues on women and child trafficking and atrocities through youth consultancy in collaboration with Sanlaap as also motivate the community members that they can be cautious about such happening in their area to protect such incident by formation of community protection group on violence, atrocities on women and children as also to keep steady watch about any happening of trafficking.

Uterus Cancer Identification Camp

Uterus Cancer is a major cancer among the women and we have organized identification and awareness camp on uterus cancer with the support of Chittaranjan Cancer Hospital, Kolkata because we realized that people needed to be told cancer was preventable, detectable at an early stage, and curable if treated promptly.

Doctors present there discuss about the symptom and early stage detection of Uterus Cancer.

SHG Development Programme

To develop & strengthen the poor women’s belonging from rural society we have conducted programme on group formation. In the initial stage our organization made its attempt in organizing awareness camp on SHG formation and promotion, involving the community members specially rural women, so that the less privileged section get rid of their day to day life problem and from their exclusion that gave them undervalue in the society in very many ways.

Seminar on Consumer Rights

A seminar was conducted on Consumer Rights with the support of Consumer Affairs Department, Govt. of West Bengal where resource persons were invited to discuss the role of the consumers and raise awareness about their rights that they cannot be cheated or wrongfully treated by the traders, shops, markets or elsewhere where they need to buy some products and consume the products. Thus consumer protection program deal with the consumer rights, their scopes and opportunities and to protect the consumer rights from the perspective of a consumer
